John Patrick McCaffrey

John Patrick McCaffrey, FCSI, CCS, AIA, SCIP, USGBC, is a self-employed Architect writing specifications for other architects and is licensed in the States of California and Wisconsin. John is a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

John has over 40 years of experience in building documentation, having worked at Miller Waltz Diedrich, Milwaukee, WI, and Ft Lauderdale, FL; CRS Sirrine, Houston, TX; Stone, Marraccini & Patterson, San Francisco, CA, and Esherick, Homsey, Dodge and Davis, San Francisco, CA. He has had the pleasure of working with two AIA Gold Medalists, Bill Caudill and Joe Esherick.

John graduated from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He attended Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, for post graduate studies in business administration.

McCaffrey, a Viet Nam veteran, was an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers where he received a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service.

Currently, John is on the Board of Development for the School of Architecture at The Catholic University of America. He also is a board member of the CSI-San Francisco Foundation and the CSI Board of Directors, where he serves as national Secretary.
